One of the six Shatkarmas is the practise of Jal Neti, or the use of a Neti pot. The yogic purification practises known as Shatkarmas also include Kapalabhati, Nauli, and Trataka. Essentially, the Neti technique involves utilising a warm water and salt solution to clean the sinuses and nasal passages.
It clears obstructions and barriers from the nasal canal on a physical level. Some claim that because the rhinovirus in the nostril is flushed out, this helps to avoid colds. After a flight where we have to breathe recycled air, it is quite beneficial to practise. It is claimed to purge the frontal lobes energetically, leaving you feeling renewed and rejuvenated. Why do I regularly practise Neti?I could list all the many justifications and health advantages that are mentioned in the numerous yoga books or online, but you can readily get these and read them for yourself. Instead, I'll share with you my own experience with the exercise and the reasons I routinely use Neti. We require frequent prompts to maintain our clarity and our unity with the universe as it manifests all around us. This can be discovered in the wonder of nature, a loved one's smile, or our yoga practise.
